Introduction

Our Heritage is everything that has been passed on to us by those who have gone before. It is defined in the 1995 Heritage Act as including the following areas: archaeological monuments, archaeological objects, wrecks, heritage objects (including archives), architectural heritage, flora, fauna, wildlife habitats, landscapes, seascapes, geology, heritage gardens and parks and inland waterways.

The North Tipperary Heritage Forum agreed to expand this further to bring in the areas of folklore and folk life. These things are what are described here. The descriptions of some places are more thorough than others, none are complete, and some places have not yet been described. In all cases, others, particularly local people, will be able to add to the story, but it is useful to record what is immediately accessible to a visitor to an area.
