1.1 How to use this plan
Thank you for reading this Development Plan 2004 for North Tipperary. By reading this Plan, you will be able to find out:
- The vision for the future of the County
- How sustainable development in North Tipperary can be achieved
- The Council's planning objectives for development within the County
- Where certain types of development should take place within the County
- The standards that are required for various types of development
- Which buildings, monuments, trees, views, areas, or sites are protected
- How problems affecting the County can be addressed
The Plan is presented in two volumes:
Firstly, the main text contains the vision statement, settlement strategy
and policy objectives. Each chapter deals with a topic and the Council's
policy in respect of each topic is shaded followed by explanatory text.
The document provides guidelines and development control standards in Chapter
8. The appendix to the text also provides design guidelines for rural houses
and villages housing, it contains a list of heritage and amenity designations,
and provides a strategic environmental assessment of the Plan.
Secondly, a designation map sets out the council's heritage, amenity and
rural designations in the County area and identifies the settlement centres
throughout the County. Volume 2 contains the settlement plans for small towns
and villages.
