On the advice of the Health Service Executive, North Tipperary County Council issued a boil water notice, on 21st October 2011, for the following areas only of the Thurles Public Water Supply:-
Leugh Road
Racecourse road to the Hospital of the Assumption
Killinan to Ballycahill
Ballycahill to Knockalough
North Tipperary County Council wishes to notify consumers, following advice from the Health Service Executive, that the Council is now in a position to remove the boil water notice with immediate effect.
Everyone can now resume normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.
The North Tipperary County Council / Health Service Executive Water Liaison Group will continue to meet and will review ongoing process control, monitoring and testing of the drinking water supply.
North Tipperary County Council acknowledges the patience, cooperation and assistance of the general public during the period of the boil water notice and greatly regrets any inconvenience caused to householders and the business community.

North Tipperary County Council in consultation with the Health Service Executive, wishes to advise consumers in the following areas only on the Thurles Public Water Supply Scheme, that in the interest of public health, it is recommended that all users boil water before use.

Water from the hot tap is not safe to drink
Domestic water filters may not render water safe to drink
Discard ice cubes/filtered water from fridges/freezers. Make ice from cool boiled water
Unboiled water can be used for personal hygiene (except brushing teeth), bathing and flushing toilets. Caution should be taken when bathing children to ensure they do not ingest the water.
Every effort has been made to bring this notice to the attention of those consuming water in the affected area. If you know of consumers who are unaware of this notice, please bring it to their attention or else advise us. We should also be advised of elderly or disabled persons who may require assistance.
This procedure will continue until further notice.

The Site Investigation Contract for the Thurles Watermain Rehabilitation will commence in Thurles on Monday 12th September for the next 5 – 6 weeks.
The Contractor will be excavating on the following streets:
The works on Slievenamon Road, Fianna Road, Castle Avenue, St Mary‘s Avenue and Mathew Avenue will be day works. The rest of the works will be done at night.
